Do You Actually Need A Yoga Mat?

Yoga blankets are used in several different ways. During meditation, they are used to place over your head to make the mediation process seem more surreal. Blankets are also used for stability while you are in a sitting pose. Use a yoga blanket that is colorful and pleasing to your eye. You want the blanket to be made of materials that are not itchy or uncomfortable.

If you begin to feel uncomfortable, motion to your yoga teacher to help improve your pose. A good yoga teacher will tell you to back out of a pose if it's causing you great pain and discomfort. Remember, yoga isn't about stretching your limits immediately; it is a gradual, healing process.

Improved circulation promotes overall cleansing. Your lymph system is pumped, flushed and used more effectively, helping to restore your body's natural cleansing mechanisms. Yoga, as an exercise and discipline helps us slow down. It is the integration of strength building exercises aligned with breath. As the breath slows down, so does the mind. As the mind slows down, we can cast out negative thoughts and fears that overshadow our faith. As we begin to clear out our doubts and fears, we can renew our minds and embrace all of God's promises to us. Can we do this without yoga? Absolutely! The real question is, "Do we have too?" Absolutely not! Many people, as well as Christians flock to yoga several times a week, not just for the physical benefits, but the mental benefits as well. hot yoga provides another opportunity for quelling the mind and centering the soul. Yoga can be a moving meditation to God. For me and many other Christians, that is exactly what it is.

But a few months later, a friend of mine talked me into going to another Yoga class with her. Being the Yoga expert that she was, she had her own mat; and she even had an extra for me. I scoffed at her when she asked if I wanted her to bring it for me. I think my response was something like "I don't need your fancy mat". But being the girl she is, she brought it for me anyway. And that was when Yoga became a whole new ball game for me.
